Under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Customer Service/Collections, respond to and resolve inquiries/disputes from the general public via phone, letter, e-mail and in person, concerning billing, metering, collection and other water/sewer matters. Analyze, research and take corrective action on accounts utilizing billing and meter records, premise and hearing files, microfiche, CIS system, work order systems and computer applications. Contact customers for payment of accounts or arrange for payment on delinquent accounts using the Billing, Termination and Appeal Procedures (βBTAβ) and other approved procedures. Prepare and process forms and correspondence. Type, file, coordinate, and maintain, various manual and automated filing systems. Investigate accounts to determine ownership and liability for balances. Research bills returned as undeliverable. Contact customers with delinquent accounts to secure payment via outgoing manual calls, written correspondence and automated dialer software. Research bank foreclosed properties using the Registry of Deeds, internet, newspapers and other weekly listings. Maintain accurate records using both manual and computer entries. Utilize reports via Star Hexagram to contact customers for MTU repairs and notify customers of unusual consumption patterns. Process all meter reading activity reports and billing information using system software. Coordinate and schedule meter installation, MTU installation, meter test, investigations, water turn-on and offs, fire pipe inspections, and other appointments with various Commission departments. Transmit and receive information and instruction via radio and telephone. Open and close work orders. . Answer telephones and direct calls using automated switchboard equipment. May assist in training junior personnel. Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
High School diploma or GED required. Previous office experience is preferable. Ability to follow directions in both written and oral form.
